Ken was the original founder of avincar, and has been in the automotive electronics business for over 20 years. A former manager of the late Old Town Car Tunes in Northwest Portland, he's worked in retail, with manufacturers in both technical and marketing capacities, and in the field as a manufacturer's representative. He's served on the MECP installer certification committee, contributed to the MECP Study Guide, and is a past chair of the CEA's Mobile Electronics Education Committee. He has written numerous articles for Car Audio and Electronics, Mobile Electronics, Installation News, and other publications, and he regularly answers car audio-related questions on several Internet sites. He is a former IASCA sound quality judge, and he holds a U.S. patent on certain auto security features, including an algorithm to discern and eliminate false alarms. His home audio system uses Thiel, Audio Research, Theta, and Counterpoint equipment. He is happy to advise enthusiasts on approach and component selection, but he no longer does technical support to shade-tree installations. He’ll happily tell you if it’s possible, but you’ll need to figure out how on your own.

avincar Inc. was a standalone retailer and installer of car audio systems in Portland, Oregon, in 2005 and 2006. We had great customers, but we didn’t have quite enough business to sustain ourselves as a standalone retail location – especially in the current commercial real estate environment in NW Portland.

avincar.com is now a virtual showroom for Avincar Certified Sound systems, as well as some specific security, video, navigation, and communication systems. avincar.com is operated by a former employee of avincar Inc., and avincar.com is now allied with SK Mobileworks, Oregon’s premier installer of aftermarket electronics into new luxury automobiles. SK Mobileworks offers a level of organizational size and stability which avincar never achieved, and it allows us to offer our acclaimed Avincar Certified Sound systems using the same audiophile-grade equipment as before. We can now combine avincar’s skill in audio system design and OEM integration with SK Mobileworks’ installation expertise and installation facilities.
